I am a 2nd year English Student at the University of Cambridge. My main fields of study at the moment are practical criticism, Renaissance theatre and poetry throughout the ages. I studied Music, French, Latin and English at A-level so am well versed in the humanities. I look towards a career in theatre, as both an actor and director, and I also write poetry in my spare time.
My teaching approach is fun, relaxed and informal, and adjusted to each pupil's needs. I focus on specific skills, such as essay structure and writing style, so that the pupil attains transferable skills as well as more practical ones for humanities subjects where essays can often feel overwhelming. I also like to encourage my students to think outside the box and explore areas of literature they are perhaps unfamiliar with. In terms of Oxbridge preparation, my experience of theatre can really help with role-play and interview practice, while I have gone through the process recently enough to have a thorough understanding of how it all works. My personal statement was commended for it's excellence and I am happy to help students with their UCAS applications.
In 2008 and 2014 I travelled to India where I taught theatre and literature. I have also spent the last 10 years of my life informally tutoring my siblings (17, 13 and 11 years old) in a variety of different areas - from helping my 11year old brother with his reading, to giving my 13 year old sister frequent extra Latin lessons and helping my 17 year old sister with her UCAS and Oxbridge applications.
I spend most of my time in the theatre, acting and directing. I also have an interest in photography and art and enjoying modelling for photographers. I spend a lot of time doing yoga (something I believe is extremely helpful to cope with stress/ achieve peace of mind) and attending spoken word poetry events.
