I am a 3rd year student studying electrical and electronic engineering at Imperial College London. I came from a small city in Cyprus after attending a public school and doing the A Levels in the afternoon. I reached the top 5% of my class by using the same study methods as I did in high school. Mathematics has been my favourite subject since the age of 6. I used to study on my own and I have always scored the best grades in mathematics. A* in Pure Mathematics, full marks in further mathematics, 800 in SATs and even my highest grades in university are in mathematics. I understand the possible concerns a student may have in Mathematics and I am looking forward to addressing them. My friends regard me as a friendly and caring person, always aiming for the top. My two year military service as a first officer and especially as a platoon commander helped me in disciplining myself, organising my schedule and planning ahead. It will help adapt with everyone’s pace and collaborate effectively for achieving our goal.
During my first interaction with the student, I will devote a short time learning as much as I can regarding personal life and mathematics level. I understand that time is precious so I will prepare practice questions which we will solve together and also give relevant homework for my tutorials. The student will receive my notes with the key points of every topic. Through the first session, my goal is to familiarise with the tutee as much as possible but also finding weak spots and planning the next sessions ahead. I always prepare and organise myself in order to address any potential questions. I aim for 100% in every subject teaching.
I have 30 hours of experience of tutoring mathematics and analysis of circuits to first year students in my department. The students from 2:1 managed to get a First in those specific courses.
I love playing football and tennis. I usually play football every weekend with my classmates at Imperial. I enjoy music and I enjoy playing the guitar even more. After reaching a certain level of experience and confidence I have participated in many events for the school, the town and parties of friends. Tennis is also one of my hobbies. Although it is an individual sport, it tests your whole body and keeps you fit. Besides all these sports, I challenge myself through strategic card games such as pilotta, similar to French coincher. I am a well-respected card player in my hometown and my partner and I have won a lot of competitions. During the nights, I usually read a book which helps me improve my vocabulary and comprehension on English.
