Hi! I’m Hyunmin, and I am currently studying Mathematics with Data Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Before university, I attended King’s College London Mathematics School, a specialist sixth-form school for students with a strong interest in mathematics and physics. I achieved A* grades in A-level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, and received a Distinction in the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 (BMO1). I also received awards in mathematics, science and engineering competitions, including the Stockholm Junior Water Prize UK competition.

I have more than a year of experience tutoring students in IB Mathematics, A-level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and university admissions preparation, including the TMUA and Cambridge Economics interviews. I have previously helped an IB Mathematics student improve their school examination score from 3 to 7.

My teaching focuses on understanding rather than memorisation. I help students identify the key idea behind unfamiliar problems, break complex questions into manageable steps and choose efficient solution methods. I encourage students to explain their reasoning aloud so that we can identify misconceptions and develop more precise mathematical thinking.

I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique, including time management, clear presentation, efficient answer-checking and avoiding unnecessary calculations. For admissions tests such as the TMUA, I focus on building the flexibility and confidence required to approach unfamiliar questions under time pressure.

Lessons are tailored to each student and may include concept review, guided problem-solving, timed exercises, homework feedback and mock interviews. My aim is to create a focused but supportive environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions and gradually become more independent and confident problem-solvers.
