I graduated from Oxford studying English Language and Literature. I absolutely loved it, especially being able to read piles of superb books, plays and poems for three years. I am now studying for a Journalism qualification at postgraduate level. I am a rigorous and hardworking individual and have honed my exam technique over the years. I received 45 points at IB and 10 A*'s at IGCSE. I have past experience working as a private tutor as well as a consultant on Oxbridge entry and university applications.
My preferred methods of teaching are instruction and explanation, followed by regular tests and checks to ensure students comprehend. I enjoy open discussions with students, so they can ask questions and get a comfortable grasp on a topic. I make lesson plans, but like to adapt my teaching to what the student is most comfortable with and whatever best helps them excel.
I have worked as a private academic tutor for years, obtaining work through recommendation. I have tutored in Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 Maths, IB English and Core, Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 English and Oxbridge applications, with candidates successfully gaining a place and successfully completing the IB and gaining 7s in Higher Level English. I also worked as a student mentor for KE Foundation summer programme and Oxford Science Studies programme. I planned and taught lessons on current affairs to international students while also conducting interview practice and advising students on university applications and personal statement writing As an intern at Wellington College Shanghai, I taught EFL and English to Key Stage 2 and 3 students.
