I'm a Computer Science graduate from the University of Kent now working in a Big 4 consulting firm specialising in cloud engineering and software development. I am a qualified Associate Solutions Architect for Amazon Web Services and Associate Cloud Engineer for Google Cloud Platforms. I have had an interest in programming from an early age and this followed me through A-levels and to my choice of degree subject.
When helping with interview preparation, the sessions will focus on making sure the student is comfortable with the process overall as well as looking deeper at their personal statement to ensure they can talk confidently about all of its contents. For the mock interview section, I will first cover questions that help the student learn how to best articulate their passion and drive for their chosen subject. Following on from this I will then engage the student on a more challenging level to develop their responses to problem-solving/critical thinking style questions that are common at high-level interviews. All of this is to prepare the student best for their real interview and maximise their chances of success. In the case of subject-specific tutorials, I will discuss with the student their desired focus areas and then work to develop sessions that best cater to this. I'm a strong believer in student's putting in the effort to reach a solution on their own with me there to guide and assist as required. My aim is to simply complex concepts and reinforce this learning with practical applications of the subject matter in order to truly get to grips with it. If the topic suits, I will arrange homework tasks to be completed by the student and fully marked before the next session to ensure the student is getting feedback on their work and progress.
Whilst at university I helped to lead programming classes for first and second year students as part of their graded syllabus. This developed both my teaching skills and my ability to re-frame a problem in multiple ways to allow students to come to reach the solution on their own, building stronger foundational knowledge. Through my work, I have taken advantage of a partnership with local schools to help with personal statement guidance and supporting with applications for students. Now alongside my day to day job, I am part of a mentorship scheme for Black university students looking to get into my industry providing them with career advice, guidance and interview preparation to give them the best chance of success in achieving their career goals.
I love to combine my passion for the outdoors and charitable work, having lead my university team on Mount Kilimanjaro and cycling from London to Paris raising over £4000 myself for vital causes. I played in my university's primary Men's Lacrosse team. I am a keen photographer and videographer. I have attained both Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards
