My name is Victor and I am a graduate in Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. I am an international student and I absolutely love my degree! When I was 18, I got first place at the 14th International Geography Olympiad. I have been to China twice and I am a Fung Group Scholar. I can help you on a wide range of topics, including degree choice advice, personal statements, university applications counselling, interview preparation, end-of-school, or university entrance exams, olympiad preparation or just general tutoring. The main subjects I can help you with are geology, geography, mathematics, and physics. I might be able to help with other topics, depending on the level. Please do not hesitate to get in touch about anything, I am very happy to answer any of your questions and look forward to getting to know you!

I think that to make a good impression and maximise your chances of getting into Oxford, Cambridge, or another top UK university, you need to show the admission tutors that, aside from an obvious enthusiasm for your chosen subject, you are also ready and eager to learn and to grow, to listen, and to make yourself heard, to help others, and to accept help from others, and generally to do more than just what is expected of you. I will, to the best of my ability, show you how you can do exactly that through private tuition. If you need to prepare for an interview, I will prepare individually tailored questions for each of my students and provide detailed feedback on each response. In terms of exam preparation, I usually begin by trying to quickly get a good idea of what teaching methods fit a certain student best and then proceed to identify his/her weaker spots, correcting them through honest advice, lots of practice, and helpful discussion.

I have experience with teaching, tutoring, and mentoring school students. Last summer I taught English, Mathematics, and Science at a summer camp for highschool students in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. This was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had, and it reminded me how much I enjoy teaching younger students. I have also done exam-oriented online tutoring on and off throughout the last 2 years. Almost every student I have worked with has raised their exam results by at least a few grades. In my first year at Oxford, I also did online mentoring through Brightside with UK students looking to apply to university.

My current personal interests include science communication, consumer technology, civil engineering, and space exploration. In terms of sports, I love everything to do with hiking and tennis. I am also currently trying to learn a little bit of Mandarin, but please don’t ask me to speak it, I’ll just embarrass myself!
