I'm Elaine and I'm a final year undergraduate at Oxford University studying Psychology and Philosophy. I grew up in the United States and went to high school in China so I am fluent at a native level in both languages. I have had 6 years of experience in competitive debate and have coached public speaking with hundreds of students throughout that time. I tutor occasionally during vacations and have helped students with Oxbridge admissions, private secondary school admissions, as well as general secondary school English, History, Biology, Philosophy, Psychology, and essay writing.

            I am patient but efficient, able to identify problem areas straight away and flexibly adapt my tutoring strategies to target those weaker areas. I have proven tips and formulas for Oxbridge personal statements, US college admission essays, and essays of all kinds. I offer mock Oxbridge interviews in the style that Oxbridge tutors will give them and give realistic, helpful feedback. I teach debate and public speaking in a fun, intense, and systematic way, guaranteed to improve clarity, brevity, and style. I also teach systematic test-taking strategies for standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. I am also available at all times on email to answer questions outside of sessions.

            I have had 3 years of experience teaching secondary school subjects like English, history, biology, philosophy, and psychology up to A-level and 6 years of experience teaching research, critical thinking, debate, and public speaking.
