I'm a fourth year engineer at Oriel college specialising in Biomedical engineering. When I graduate in 2015 I'm moving to London to work for BP.
In my experience every student is different so I think it would be really important to initially understand how you learn: be that visually or kinaesthetically etc. Armed with that knowledge preparation and lesson planning built around this will be invaluable to me to keep each session on point. Be prepared for lots of colours, visual aids, diagrams and auditory aids! It'll be really important that anyone I tutor feels at ease with me so that their able to ask me any questions they have, no matter how silly or whimsical they may seem. It'll also help me to gain a better insight into their understanding of any topics we cover, and whether they seem uncomfortable with any also.
Little, apart from helping my four year old nephew to begin to learn to read and write! I expect however that any students I do get will be far more interested than he is. . .
I play a lot of sports including netball, volleyball and rowing. I'm also a member of the University Air Squadron and have been since my first year; this sees me taking part in a huge variety of activities and excursions including skiing, climbing, sailing and flying.
