I graduated from Merton College, Oxford in 2002 with a first-class degree in Physics (MPhys). Directly after this I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and have been performing music professionally on a regular basis since 2004. I was the captain of the RNCM's University Challenge team in 2003/4.

My approach to success is to suggest lots of extra practice the student can do on top of available past papers. Often I will try to push the student beyond what is required by the exam so that the questions they face will seem easy by comparison. For time-pressured exams such as the NSAA and ENGAA I have lots of hints and ideas for time-saving. I like to see students' work in advance so I can build their work to a solution rather than merely present my own work to them.

I am an experienced mathematics and physics tutor specialising in Oxbridge entry. I have mentored nearly 100 students for the Physics Aptitude Test since 2012 and also tutor for ENGAA, NSAA, MAT, STEP and mathematics competitions such as the British Mathematical Olympiad. My Oxford students achieve significantly higher than average, both at the test and the interview. I have a varied selection of suggestions and extra resources for the PAT including five challenging mock papers. I have also written a high quality eBook for preparation for the ENGAA and the physics/mathematics sections of the NSAA.

I play music professionally, exercise regularly and spend time with my family (I have two children, aged 3 and 6).
