My name is Josh, I study Law and French Law at Oxford. I am just about to start my second year and I can't wait to go back. I studied Politics, French and Economics at A Level/Pre-U and I achieved a D1 in Economics (higher than an A*).
There are several things that I focus on when tutoring my students. I normally have three sessions with each student and we will focus on different parts of the admission process in each session. In the first session I like spend a short time getting to know my students and finding out about them and their lives and the type of person they are to allow me to personalise my sessions for them. In the first session we will also cover the general preparation for Oxbridge admissions, and we will also cover the personal statement. In the second session we move onto the LNAT. The LNAT is in my opinion the most important thing because it can decide whether or not you get an interview or not. We will spend the first part discussing the multiple choice questions and how best to approach them followed by a discussion of essay technique in the second part of the second session. Finally we will look at interview technique in the final session, and conduct a mock interview. I do also offer the possibility for extra sessions on how to think like a law student in which I draw from my first year of studying as a lawyer and teach how a lawyer ought to approach things
Last year I tutored 6 people from the start of September of which 4 got into Oxbridge. Obviously I cannot take all the credit but the students were very thankful for my help and told me a lot of what I said was useful, particularly for the more difficult parts which are the LNAT essay and the interview.
I am a keen sportsmen. I am the captain of my college football team and this next year I will be playing golf for the University second team.
