Hi! I am a newbie in the tutoring business, but I am a veteran teacher with a 20+-year experience in teaching university Introduction to Economics/Principles of Economics--the exact same level as IB Economics/HL and AP Micro/Macro--in 6 different countries! (US, Japan, China, UAE, Kuwait and Korea) Also, I have a master's in international law and a PhD in economic history. That background has allowed me to teach many courses that are history/international politics-related. My claim that I am competent to give tuition in world history and comparative politics is based on a solid teaching record.

I am very much interested in making certain that my students do not just understand the superficial aspects--facts, figures, graphs, etc--of a subject but end up having a firm grasp on in-depth conceptual elements and be able to understand the nuances and implications of those concepts. I love asking questions to elicit responses that aid students to better undestand what they are studying. I also put greater emphasis on the ability to write clear and well-organized essays that demosntrate how well one understands a concept better than anything else.

I have a long and diverse teaching background: --I have started to teach introductory economics as a PhD student in 1986. I have not just taught at the University of Texas at Austin but also at several liberal arts colleges in Austin. --I have continued to teach introductory economics after getting my doctorate in 1993, but I have also taught many different courses in international political economy, regional/global studies and business studies (management, marketing, finance, etc.)

I am a voracious reader who is mainly interested in hisotry, anthropology and biographies. I am also an avid movie buff.
