I graduated last summer with a high 2.1 in English Literature and am also deeply interested in history, politics and the state of the world more generally. In terms of personality, I am very hard working and reliable, but in a friendly, driven way rather than stern and overbearing. I am happy to tutor at any level of English, both as literature and as a foreign language. And please feel free to enquire about other subjects.

When I have tutored before it has been very much student focused, tailoring the teaching to their strengths and weaknesses. I think it's especially important when teaching one-to-one that the tutor and student develop a good working relationship, the syllabus should be used as a framework of teaching and engagement rather than something to just plod through. I think that it's through this kind of individual engagement with a subject that education becomes more personal and therefore both easier to learn and more likely to stick with a student.

SATs tutor and one-to-one SEN Support: Volunteer work which involved working with small groups of year six children, teaching maths, grammar and comprehension skills in preparation for SAT tests. Alongside this, I provided one-to-one student support for children with learning difficulties, which involved reconfiguring the usual subject content to involve play and specific behavioural aid. Private Tutor: Having moved to Paris, I took up various tutoring roles for families with children in primary school. This involved childcare duties, picking the children up from school and working with them each evening.

I'm currently working part-time at a magazine, writing and editing pieces about art, film and design, and so am very interested in these subjects. Beyond that, I kayak, read a lot and enjoy new experiences.
