I am a medical student going into my fourth year at Brasenose College, Oxford. Having recently placed in the top 5 in the year for my second year exams and entering Oxford having taken a gap year in which I worked as a care worker, I feel that I have a very broad range of experience both in the medical application process, including academic and entrance exams, as well as interviews and personal statement writing, as well as the various parts surrounding this, which help me to be a well rounded and qualified tutor. I have 3 A*s at A level in mathematics, chemistry and biology, which underlie my proficiency I feel I can use to support and aid in the learning of these subjects and achieved high scores in the BMAT and UKCAT. As the personal statement and interview process can be slightly unnerving, knowing what is expected in each of these aspects means that I am fully able to support and advise in these areas to hone your ability and make you more comfortable and prepared for these parts of the application process.

I endeavour to have the most individualistic and tailored approach for the person being tutored. This involves getting to know them as a person and communicating with them in order to find the teaching style and way of learning that will suit them the most and therefore help them to get the most out of the tuition, through development of understanding that works for them.

I have worked extensively in teaching environments previously through work experience in various schemes for children as well as in GP practices and hospitals, as well as working as a care worker in my gap year helping me to develop many other skills including interpersonal. Being a student I myself have not had any personal experience in teaching but I believe that I have developed many skills and have observed many great teachers in various environments that I can utilise and transfer to be able to provide a really good teaching experience, and having been a student myself at university for 2 years now through the Oxford tutorial system which is much more one-on-one and individual I think that I have developed a sense of how closer contact teaching can be extremely useful combined with larger scale understanding.
