First class graduate from Oxford University with a consistently strong academic record. My unique inter-disciplinary degree allows me to support students with a wide range of subjects. Before university, I achieved A*A*A grades at A Level in Biology, English Literature, and Mathematics respectively.
I am particularly enthusiastic in helping students with university admissions and personal statements, since I believe it is invaluable to receive advice from a current student, something that is not always offered at school! I approach Oxbridge admissions by encouraging students to think critically and to see the 'bigger picture,' and providing them with the skills to do this, something which is invaluable for interviews and personal statements. More generally, I aim to help find new approaches to help students understanding - often finding a different perspective or different way of looking at things is the only thing standing in the way! I am completely flexible and happy to adapt my style to the student's needs and wants - I have experience with one-time and informal tutoring, in addition to longer term tutoring where I am more involved in the student's learning progress. I am based in Oxford for most the year, and High Wycombe in the holidays. Occasionally I am able to meet in London, subject to travel costs. I am always happy to provide tutoring or advise via e-mail or skype!
I have more than 5 years experience working as a tutor and mentor, including 4 years experience tutoring for Oxbridge and university applications. This has involved supporting students in the initial stages of their application process, deciding on their university and course choice, writing a personal statement, preparation for the TSA entrance test, and interview preparation, including holding mock interviews and tutorials. Previous to this, I tutored younger students in English and maths. I also have long term experience mentoring students from Asia learning English as a foreign language, helping them develop both personally and academically over the duration of their course.
