Hi, I’m Tom, a recent Biology graduate from Oxford University.     In doing my own exams, I have realised that the key to doing well is being well-prepared. I am keen to transfer what I have learnt and show my students the best strategies, and most efficient ways, to prepare intelligently.     In addition, I have realised that interest in the subject matter is very important for motivation. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for Maths and Science in order to motivate students.             My approach is thoroughly exam centered. I place a huge emphasis on being familiar with the range of specifications, which have been established by the respective exam boards and keep up to date with all changes to the requirements. A core part of the tutoring has been working through past exam papers with students and in helping them to develop confidence and skills on accurately interpreting questions and then providing precise and considered answers. I keep thoroughly up to date with the respective marking schemes, which I consider is absolutely crucial. I have developed a keen awareness of what the examiners are really looking for across the respective subjects and exam boards and how to optimise exam grades.

            I enjoy transferring knowledge to others and have thoroughly enjoyed all teaching positions that I have held, which include:   • face-to-face and online one-to-one tutoring in GCSE and A-Level Science and Maths and Oxbridge University applications,   • Oxford University Science Summer School,   • Oxford University STEM ambassador to secondary schools and sixth forms,  • Classic Summer School, Cambridge, teaching English as a foreign language,   • Schools Plus, Oxford, outreach to secondary schools.    During my undergraduate studies, I tutored students in A-Level and GCSE Maths, Chemistry and Biology. Typically I tutored for 10 hours a week and had to fit this around my demanding academic schedule.      My tutoring was on a one-to-one basis and was split between face-to-face and online contact. The agencies I worked with were: Tutor Hunt and MyTutorWeb, where I have established experience. All my reviews have been 5 star.      I have also tutored Oxbridge candidates in UCAS applications, which include personal statements and preparation for interviews.
