Oxford/London
I am graduating this year with a degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford. Throughout my time at Oxford I have studied the bredth of English Literature, but have specialised in earlier periods. As a large part of the Oxford course is taken up by this (with Old English and Middle English featuring heavily), I am able to support students in this notoriously difficult aspect. I have a great love of both literature and language that would love to share with my students. I achieved 39 points in the IB Diploma, studying four higher subjects, as opposed to the usual three. HL English Literature - 7 HL Physics - 5 HL Drama - 7 HL History - 5 SL Russian - 6 SL Maths - 6
My tutoring approaching branches from the individual tutee and what particular concerns and problems they have. However, during my time tutoring I will cover close reading of texts, revision techniques, approaches to exam questions, and how to engage with literary criticism. Additionally having studied language, alongside literature, I understand the importance of this in work and applications to university level. I scored highly on my entrance exam (ELAT) to Oxford, so am well versed in how to study and excell in this.
Having run numerous classes at school for younger years, I am well aquainted with how to successfully plan and execute lessons. I also informally tutored many of my peers at IB level.
One of my greatest passions is journalism. I have written and edited for student papers, alongside completing work experience at The Sunday Times. I am also a keen actress, having been involved in many performances from school to university level. Finally, I have been a cheerleader during my time at Oxford!
