Hello! I am a third year English Language and Literature student at Keble College, Oxford. I have recently been awarded an academic scholarship for achieving a distinction in my first year exams, as well as the college prize for the best results in English Language and Literature within my undergraduate year. I achieved 6 As at AS level in the following subjects: English Literature, English Language, Early Modern History, Drama and Theatre Studies, Media Studies and Critical Thinking. I continued four subjects on to A2 level (dropping Media Studies and Critical Thinking), achieving AAAA*, with an additional A* for a literary-themed EPQ. My ELAT score for Oxford entrance was 50/60.
I am more than happy to work with students of any ability, and promise to be mega-informal, patient, flexible, honest, and unashamedly enthusiastic about everything. Students don't have to share any of their own work with me if they don't want to, but I often like to go over a sample essay or a piece of written work so that I can give some more in-depth, specialised teaching on essay structure, close analysis, exam technique and so on. For students who want training specifically for university entrance, I would also be up for looking over personal statements, and/or conducting practice interviews (as well as giving advice on the ELAT Oxford entrance exam).
I have been awarded a Level One JSLA teaching award, taught drama once a week at Bournemouth School for Girls for two years (2012-2014), and informally critiqued the essays and personal statements of friends. As a twin, I guess I could also say that I am a permanent study-buddy...
I am an amateur actress and musician (singing in a folk duo), and particularly enjoy spending my spare time watching a ridiculous number of 'Breaking Bad' episodes...
