I am a third year student studying BSc Mathematics and Economics at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prior to LSE, I studied A levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Economics at Henrietta Barnett School, obtaining A*AA respectively.
I have more than 3 years experience in tutoring Mathematics, ranging from 11+ to A-level. My tutoring approach is dependent on the student and the area of Mathematics that they struggle in. An initial meeting is crucial for me to better understand the student's personality and the teaching method that is most effective to the student's learning. From my experience, primary school to GCSE level Mathematics is somewhat intuitive. When working with students to prepare for their secondary school entrance exams or Maths GCSE, I aim to build that intuition as well as to conceptualise the areas of maths that they find difficult.
My goal as a maths tutor is to help students build an intuition and a foundation that they can later on work independently on unfamiliar questions. For me, this is the most rewarding aspect of being a tutor - once the student understands a seemingly complex idea, exam questions becomes a lot easier to approach. It gives the student the confidence to face challenging questions and pursue maths with greater ease.
