Hiya! I'm Hubert, a Physics and Philosophy graduate from Oxford, and I'm excited to help you take your studies to the next level! As both a science and an arts student, I'm happy to help with multiple subjects, ranging from Maths/Further Maths/Physics to Philosophy/Theology/other essay subjects (I won't have the subject knowledge of someone more specialised in, for example, history, but I can teach you how to write an essay well, regardless of subject - philosophy tutors are very impatient with poorly written essays!). I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Philosophy & Theology for Pre-U, and French for a Pre-U Short Course (AS equivalent), and have knowledge of Chemistry up to AS level. I am familiar with the structure of Pre-U and A-level syllabuses and papers, and I am confident we can wok together to provide what is best for you!

My approach will be tailored to your specific needs, whether it is help with homework you seek, or a more general understanding of your subject. Once I become familiar with the your level of understanding, then I can determine the direction to go, be it more rote practice (e.g. for exam technique) or more conceptual. I will seek to make everything as clear as possible and we will take no shortcuts for timing. I may set some work in between lessons. It will help if students have some questions prepared for each lesson and have them sent to me, so I can adequately prepare materials so we can make the most out of our time together!

I have various tutoring experiences over the past two years, especially in Maths and Physics

I enjoy my degree very much, but I also take pleasure in many other things! I'm a tennis fan and player (university level) as well as a football fan (though I'm a terrible player...). I also like to read novels, play chess (semi-competitively) and play the piano! I play an active role in undergraduate life at Balliol too, as a member of the JCR (Junior Common Room) welfare team.
