My approach is a, generally, fairly flexible one: each student is unique, with their own personal insights, preferences and areas of difficulty. I tend to ask them to explain their text/subject topic to me briefly, tell me what they find particularly interesting, and where they may be confused. We then discuss these, really interrogating the key elements and issues: the better you know a text or a faction or a period, the better you will be able to write about it, and make connections to the wider macrosphere of the subject. Equally, essay writing and interview help is very much case-by-case, but largely it'll be a collaborative process to fine tune their style, whilst maintaining vital individuality.
Tutoring GCSE students for three years, both in and out of school. Assisting with GCSE students' coursework teaching (doing one-on-ones with struggling students to raise their grades). Taught extra-curricular creative writing and analytical classes at school.
Netball, music, radio comedy, improv, writing, and reading (of course).
