I am a second year Biochemistry student at Oxford. I obtained 3 A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level and 10 A*s at GCSE. I can tutor across all science subjects and at varying academic levels. I also specialize in giving advice on the Oxbridge interview process and personal statement. I have tutored to varied age groups and across a variety of disciplines over the last few years on a freelance basis. I can also do this in English or Spanish. Although best on a one to one basis I have also supported students via Skype. I find tutoring thoroughly rewarding as I enjoy being able to make a student understand a new concept. It is also very enriching to build a students grasp of ideas and knowledge from one level and see this develop to a strong understanding of scientific fundamentals.
Each student has a preference as to how they like to learn and understand new concepts; therefore I don’t believe that every student should learn with the same model. I like to try different ways of explaining the same idea giving analogies that will help the student to fully understand and remember what is being taught. I always start by breaking down the problem to a level where the student is comfortable and then slowly building up once there is a solid foundation making sure there is frequent consolidation.
I tutored in the Sixth Form to GCSE as well as AS Level students as I found this a very rewarding way to consolidate my knowledge. During my Gap Year I worked as a freelance tutor in Singapore for GCSE and A Level students.
I play a variety of sports including tennis, netball, golf and horse ridding. I also enjoy art and play the piano as well as being a keen cook.
