Current student at Trinity Hall. Finished second year with strong 2:1 grades in both years. Passionate about the whole Cambridge experience including extracurriculars - it's so much more than just exams!
The most important aspect of Cambridge education is independent thought. Being able to give an answer that you can explain convincingly is crucial, especially in a subject with fewer right or wrong answers like Classics. Knowledge of language is important and can be set as work between sessions, but is not something that requires active tuition; much more important is to draw out a perspective and an analytical understanding of the literature.
Limited paid tuition, lots of informal helping friends and family friends in passing GCSEs and A levels.
Cambridge Ancient Literature Society member. Unsurprising as a classicist! Debates, lectures and parties at the Union. Chief passion is my college rowing club, where I spent the last year as captain. A healthy social life and interests as a rounded person are important factors for discriminating between the many intelligent applicants to Oxbridge, and help to keep you sane once you're here.
